My Metaphor: Getting Stronger--One Step at a Time.

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greaterperson by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” —Patanjali

The link below shows my first job experience after my undergraduate
degree. KANSAS STATE INDUSTRIAL REFORMATORY
At the beginning of my quest to contribute as a productive citizen, I toyed around with the possibility of becoming a corrections officer. However, I developed a penchant for sharing my knowledge of US history, and I became dedicated to sharing my live with others in the field of education.
Cllick here to see where I earned my first teaching position at Burlington High School At Burlington High School I taught World History and United States History to Juniors and Seniors. Also, I coached as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Head Varsity Wrestling Coach, and Assistant Junior High School Girls Track Coach. I had so much fun in Kansas, Burlington is such a small town in that your colleagues also were your friends, who became involved in most other aspects of my life. I miss them dearly. I left Kansas in order that my mother could enjoy my children as they grew up going to the William Floyd Schools.
Above you can see me walking to my new class at Burlington High School at 24 years of age. Also, on the right I am shaking hands with my all-state wrestler while I was the head wrestling coach. I have so many fond memories of Burlington, Kansas. I moved after two years because my mother became upset about the fact that she was unable to share her life with my son, Omero, and my daughter, Rebekah. Therefore, we moved to New York where I was able to obtain a middle school Spanish teaching position.
Bellport Middle School, South Country Public Schools, New York After Burlington, I took a chance as I moved my family to New York. It was a great experience being a Spanish teacher. Coach Cipp was responsible for helping me with my teaching position and I owe him for an opportunity for me to teach at my alma mater. However, four years later I was in the early 90's was heartbreaking. I was very fortunate that my assistant principal at the middle school, Harvey Palmore, took a liking to me and influenced the powers at Hempstead, which became my new place of employment. Above is my senior year picture as I left Bellport High School only to return years later as a 7th Grade Spanish Teacher.
Above is one of my after school duties; here pictured with my kids after football season at the Bellport Middle School. Hempstead Public Schools, New York
Hempstead High School was thrilling for me. Ms. Barbara Thompson (Williams) was my Principal. She was the one person who gave me the impetus to move ahead and matriculate at St. Johns' University, Queens Campus for a Professional School Administrator Diploma. While at the Hempstead High School I wrote a paper which influenced the Word power Program; This program screened several upcoming ninth grade at-risk students and provided specific support mechanisms for their academic success. Overall, I enjoyed Hempstead High School, because it was my opportunity to teach Bilingual High School Social Studies (Spanish). I enjoyed my experience at the high school level under the auspices of Ms. Williams, and later, under Mr. Curtis Fisher. Another individual, Mr. Reginald Stroughn, became my mentor as I completed my internship at St. Johns' University for my Administrative Certificate. Afterward, I utilized my administrative schooling as a Department Chairman for the social studies department at the ABG Shultz Middle school. The Hempstead Middle school was especially gratifying for me as I developed my leadership style as a department chairperson. Ms. Diane Brown was yet another individual who influenced me in taking intellectual risks and guided me professionally as a building leader. Ms. Brown encouraged me to further my leadership pursuits and I am grateful for her assistance. As I entered the doctorate program at the Oakdale campus, I noticed that I should recognize that her title is Dr. Diane Brown, graduate of the St. Johns' University Doctorate program at the Oakdale Campus. While at Hempstead, I grew tired of the commute and looked forward to obtaining a position as an Assistant Principal closer to my home in Moriches. I was fortunate to obtain a position as Dean for three years at Central Islip High School, and then, Assistant Principal of the Reed Junior High School, later to be renamed, Reed Middle School for eleven years. Presently, I have returned to the high school as an assistant principal, where I have been for the last two years. I now have another mentor, Dr. Franklin Caesar, who I trust and learn many lessons involving leadership in education. Below are just a few of the activities and projects I have been involved with and/or supervisor. English and Spanish translations of itinerary and agenda of after school academic exercises
